The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and the Committee of the Regions (CoR) are hosting a joint conference on 24 June 2015 in Brussels under the title Freeing Europe Safely From Asbestos. The European Federation of Building and Wood Workers (EFBWW) is supporting the event together with the employers' organization European Construction Industry Federation (FIEC) and victim support groups.
The event promises to be an opportunity to express political demands for a safe removal strategy, as well as the recognition and compensation of victims to policy makers and have a debate about appropriate policy choices. In addition it will be a good networking opportunity to meet and have an exchange with people dedicated to solving Europe's asbestos problem.
